worldly life

Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “Renouncing the worldly life does not meanforbidding what is lawful or squandering wealth; rather, renouncing the worldly life means not thinking that what you have in your hand is better than what is in the hand of Allah; and it means feeling that the reward for a calamity that befalls you is greater than that which the calamity makes you miss.”
Abu Idris Al-Khawlani would say, “The likeness of this narration as compared to other narrations is the likeness of pure gold as compared to ordinary gold.”
[Sunan Ibn Majah, Book of Asceticism, Number 4100, Da’eef]
