The great virtue and reward for controlling anger for the sake of Allah

Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, “There is nothing which is swallowed that has a greater reward with Allah than a servant who swallows his rage, seeking thereby the countenance of Allah.

عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ جُرْعَةٍ أَعْظَمُ أَجْرًا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ جُرْعَةِ غَيْظٍ كَظَمَهَا عَبْدٌ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللَّهِ
سنن ابن ماجه كِتَاب الزُّهْدِ ما من جرعة أعظم أجرا عند الله من جرعة غيظ
 
Umar on Moderation: Let not your love be infatuation and let not your hatred be destruction
Umar ibn Al-Khattab said, “Let not your love be infatuation, and let not your hatred be destruction.” It was asked, “How is this?” He said, “When you love, you are infatuated like a child; and when you hate, you love destruction for your companion.”
[Al-Bukhari, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, Number 1322, Sahih]
عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ‏ لاَ يَكُنْ حُبُّكَ كَلَفًا وَلاَ بُغْضُكَ تَلَفًا فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ ذَاكَ‏ قَالَ‏ إِذَا أَحْبَبْتَ كَلِفْتَ كَلَفَ الصَّبِيِّ وَإِذَا أَبْغَضْتَ أَحْبَبْتَ لِصَاحِبِكَ التَّلَف
