The Prophet’s parable of the

Hadith on Wisdom: The Prophet’s parable of the fire, and the wisdom of Solomon son of David
Abu Huraira reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saying, “My parable and that of the people is like a man who lit a fire and the moths, butterflies and insects fell into it.” He also said, “There were two women, each of whom had a child with her. A wolf came and took one of their children, but the other woman said: it has taken your child. The first woman said: no, rather, it has taken your child. So they took their case before David who judged that the living child be given to the older woman, and then both of them went to Solomon son of David and told him about the matter. He said: bring me a knife so I can cut the child into two pieces and distribute it among them. The young lady said: do not do so, may Allah have mercy on you, because it is her child. Therefore, Solomon gave the child to the young lady.”

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, “The recitation of scripture was made easy for David. He would order that his riding animal be saddled, and he would finish his recitation before they were saddled; and he would never eat except from the earnings of his own hand’s work.”
